Automating The Future

FROM DISHWASHER TO ENTREPRENEUR

Explore the story of Evan Duignan, founder of Alphamated

Alphamated was born with innovation at the forefront. Alphamated came into the fruition when the founder, Evan Duignan was working as a dishwasher at Joey’s Italian Grille in Chardon, Ohio. Evan had adapted well to the environment after he was pushed to dishwashing after messing up on a sheet pizza one night. He eventually was able to do a significant amount of volume due to narrowing down the process but, he noticed that the staff, in particular servers were constantly asking him to run the silverware through the dish tank. They had to roll silverware before they were allowed to go and the process to roll took hours.

Evan started to ponder if there could be a better way to go about rolling silverware. That eventually led down a long, strenuous path where he would enter a business competition at Ohio State. He eventually partnered with Cameron Mitchell and CDME which developed a patented rolling process and thenpartnered with Wasserstrom and engaged with MEP and then Magnet.

After working with Magnet and then being introduced to FastLane he would form a partnership with PCU Automation which would spearhead the development even further and produce the Roller Xpress, a machine that automatically rolls silverware in a napkin for the hospitality space. The machine has now been deployed to Townhall Restaurant in Columbus in which there has been immense collaboration to create a win win for all parties involved. Innovation and entrepreneurship is the foundation of Alphamated.

Impacting your Business

OUr Mission

How do these products, services and/or solutions benefit the organization, it’s employees, investors and other constituents in one or more of the following areas? (i.e. how do you measure the impact?)

The Roller Xpress is a tremendous product that benefits multiple parties because of one simple premise which is time. Rolling silverware has been around for ages but the Roller Xpress makes the process more efficient and therefore giving back the person one of the most important things they can have which is time. Impact is one of the core values of Alphamated for the reason that part of why the company was started in the first place was to impact not only the owner and operator but also the people working in the establishment as well. It’s about quality of life. The people that have to roll silverware for hours before they have to go are missing out on precious time to spend time with their family, friends and loved ones, to experience a higher quality of life and to chase their own dreams and goals.

The product also therefore improves the quality of customer service as a whole and since the owner/operator no longer has to pay for the labor as everyone is home now, the machine can produce a significant ROI which trickles down to a solid investment for the respective investors.

That’s the goal of Alphamated as a whole and the lens. “How can we take anything in the respective industries that were involved in and how can we improve the quality of life for those people.” Very few people like to roll silverware, people will pay others to roll. It’s a monotonous and tedious task. Let’s make that better and knock that roadblock down and then look at other events and processes in the space that can be improved upon by not even looking at the “box” but the ecosystem as a whole and that has been and will continue to be the mission.
